Jerusalem's New Name, Part 1

Writer's picture: dawsonchrisanndawsonchrisann

Isaiah 62:1-3

For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace,

And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,

Until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness,

And the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness,

And call kings thy glory:

And thou shalt be called by a new name,

Which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord,

And a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

God really loves many things. He loves His dear Son. He loves the humans that He created. He loves His own Word. He loves His plans for the future. But one place holds a special place in His heart: Jerusalem!

And because He loves Jerusalem so much, He has plans for her purification, glory, and peace. “For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.” After a season of Tribulation and cleansing, which God does for the good of His people, He means to see Jerusalem as a display of righteousness and brightness.

And just as Jerusalem will on day shine, so will we shine as God’s beloved creation. This is going to be a great kingdom!
